Guide for Teachers

The beauty of my campaign’s design is that it’s extremely easy for a group of students to run and can be co-ordinated by any two pupils you feel would be responsible enough to put together a team to implement the project and make it a success.

To get started and register your school’s or college’s interest all you need to do is contact us as soon as possible at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  In the email we need you to send us the following information

  1. Co-ordinator’s name and email and contact number
  2. The name of the school or college
  3. Confirm you have given the co-ordinators permission to carry out the project.

There are also a number of things you can do to help the process along.

1.     Help the co-ordinators to organise an announcement to be read in assemblies/tutor groups the week prior to Valentine’s Day or encourage them to advertise the event through the student union.  A poster is available for download under ‘Downloads’.

2.     Make sure the team understands they are selling the roses for £2 each and that they have a float and a secure box to store the money in.

3.     Remind the co-ordinators to only print as many slips as they have rose or they could end up selling more roses than they have!  This has happened in the past – we managed to resolve the problem – but it’s best to avoid this scenario if possible.

4.     Help the co-ordinators find a good spot to set up their table.

5.     A few nights before the roses are to be delivered provide the project leaders with student lists or tutor group lists so they can sort through the slips and put a tally by each person who has been bought a rose (some will have more than one tally).

6.     On the day or evening before Valentine’s Day (or the closest school day to it) supervise the team to count the number of roses that are needed for each tutor group and sort the silk roses into piles.

7.     Allow the team time out of tutor time on Valentine’s Day (or the closest school day to it) to deliver the roses to the students in each tutor group.

8.     Help the students to count the money and keep it in a secure place to be donated to Breast Cancer Research via Lizze and the ITV Fixers team.

Once the project is finished we ask that you email us again and advise us of the following

  1.  Number of roses sold (and to be collected-if any are left over)
  2. The amount raised (including any donations if taken)
  3. The date the fundraising cheque will be sent

We then ask you to send a cheque for the amount raised made out to ‘Project Rose in aid of Cancer Research UK’ to Project Rose, PO BOX 584, Winchester, SO23 3GF.Our charity number is 1089464.Many thanks for taking the time to consider our campaign - we really hope you would like to get involved.
